A trip to the “Ella Kanda Aranya” Situated in 900 acre conservation forest, this Buddhist monastery is a place that teaches meditation and discipline in the mind. A short meditation workshop translated in English can be arranged. A library consisting of Buddhist literature in English can accessed. You can read, observe and learn about the discipline or simply relax. A nature rain forest to a very large extent, you can experience a moment of tranquility and flora could be found in this place.

Places of Interest

Veherahena Temple

A 40min drive towards Matara, from the hotel. One of the largest Buddha statues in Asia is situated here. Hundreds of wall paintings depicting the stories relating the Buddha can be seen. A place to see Sri lanka art and sculpture and a place of religious worship.

The Blowhole

45 mini drive passing matara. A place by the sea where the thunderering water sprays water through a nozzle like opening into the skies.

Snake Farm

10 min drive to Thelijjawila. Where you can see most of the reptiles found in Sri Lanka, some of which are found nowhere else in the world.

Batik Factory

On your way to the snake farm you can stop over at Moon Light Batik to see how this magnificent art of batik is created on fabrique.

The Dutch Market and the Star Fortress

In the city of Matara which is 30mins away from the hotel you could see the Dutch Market a 18 th century market place built by the Dutch as a market place for trading goods. Only five minutes away from the market you come across the Star Fortress close to the Matara Hospital. Again built by the Dutch this place now houses a library.

The Matara Fortress

A few minutes away from the Star Fortress you come across the old Matara Fortress. Built by the Dutch this place has lost most of its past glory due to modernization. However a few churches and houses are still remaining.

A trip to Matara Beach

An ideal day out under the hot sun walking along the golden sand of Mirissa. 15 minutes drive, or a cycle trip can be arranged.

Deep Sea Fishing

A unique way of fishing that is only popular in Weligama area. A 15 minute walk along the road deep into the village will lead you to this sight.

Trip to the island Madol Duwa – Situated a 15 minutes drive, away from the hotel this place offers you a trip in a boat on the Koggala lagoon to the island and back.
